Canon 1Ds3 on Amazon: 21.1 MP, 14 bit sensor!
The digital back guys, Phase One, Leaf and Sinar are going to gnash their teeth, it seems that Canon is gatecrashing the highly lucrative studio market with their upcoming 1DsIII camera. The 1Ds2 didn't quite cut it here, but the 1DsIII seems tailor-made for portrait and set-piece shots.
The Canon 1DsIII specs are up on Amazon, with a scheduled release date December 10 and a $8K price tag. It looks like it has the same specs as the 1DsIII, wiith a larger sensor reaching 21.1 MP, better color and DR thanks to 14 bit processing, and a 5FPS motor speed which should be plenty enough pixels and fast enough for the saner photographers out there.
More specs are on this second page. A new 14mm F:2.8 linear wide-angle lens intended for architecture shooters is also described. It also seems that Canon's new Raw processing software will have capabilities for correcting lens distorsion, chromatic aberration etc, and that a Picture Style editor is finally going to see release.
